Beautiful city with so many canals, lovely old buildings and lots of parks. Transportation is easy to navigate (Use googlemap) and pay (by credit card) but not cheap, fortunately the city is very walkable with plenty of café and restaurants for rest and food as one explore the city on foot. The City has good vibes even in the red light districts. Travelers can easily take short train rides to nearby towns and get a different Dutch experience. (Hoorn and Zaanse Schans can be considered)

Great place to visit and lots to see and experience. Would also go to Rotterdam, the Hague, Delft, Giethoorn, Zaanse Schans and Edam if possible. And visit the Rijksmusem too - give it at least 5 to 6 hours at least. There are more places to visit too and good restraunts to eat out at with local food. Don't miss the boat ride in the Canals - do some research on which one to select. If possible do one in the day and another in the night. The city has great transit and is very well connected. Very safe city and everyone speaks English which is a bonus.

Amsterdam is filled with too many options, catering to every possible need. Walking around Amsterdam is the best way to enjoy...take regular breaks with lots of restaurant / cafe's to chose from. I managed to visit all the important tourist attractions. The public transport was excellent and I enjoyed the architecture very much. There is so much to do in Amsterdam and I was impressed at the efforts that were made to try and keep the city clean. Amsterdam is as stunning and brilliant as you imagine. Take your time, wonder and definitely visit Anne Frank house (book tickets 6 weeks in advance each Tues) the resistance museum (which is best visited ahead of Anne Frank) the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum.

Very nice capital to explore for four days. Or more, if you're going to visit several museums. A day's trip to Harlem and the beach there was nice, whereas the tulips in Keukenhof were nor really worth the majority of a day. A boat trip through canals and the Rijksmuseum were both worth their money and time.SašoSlovenia

First stay in Amsterdam, location is perfect, can jump on 397 bus to the city centre at only €2.50 euro each. Can also jump on tram 6 to take you the same way. We used google maps and it took us to the tramp and bus stops very easy. Beds are exceptionally comfy and clean. Staff were excellent and we had new towels and beds made every day whilst we were out. Bus stops close by to take you further into the city center. If travelling by car, we recommend parking for 1 euro a day at P+R car park Bos en Lommert. Only condition is you have to take the bus outside car park to the city, but it's easy and cheap and the bus stops 150 m away from this hotel. Same when picking up the car. Do this and parking in Amsterdam costs 1 euro a day!

I go to Amsterdam regularly for cheap break for a night or 2 with a few pals and we generally stay in the budget hotels, this is one of the best budget hotels in the main area. I must say for the price this is excellent value for money. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't take my wife to this hotel but its ideal for a cheap break on a budget.
